Local history

Featured here are some of the stories from this historic part of Brisbane including the iconic Moggill Ferry which began operations around 1873. We also feature stories about pineapple farming, which was a big part of local industry as was blue stone extraction at Sugar’s Quarry.

The bora ring, the oldest local remnant of Indigenous occupation is featured, and well worth a visit, as is Moggill Cemetery, where some 150 local folk are interred.

Aspects of our local history are explored in more depth in some of our publications.
